Mishap on the L & SWR

As a London and South Western train from Southampton was nearing Andover Station on Friday afternoon the engine jumped the points and left the rails, derailing also the first coach. After tearing up the permanent way for some feet the engine came to a standstill on the bridge which spans the high road. No one was injured. By use of the main lines from Salisbury to Waterloo, the through traffic was maintained, and in four hours the damaged permanent way was repaired.
