1895 Sept 10th        Accidents on the Railways

The Board of Trade report upon the accidents that occurred on the railways of the United Kingdom from all causes during 1894 shows that there were 1115 fatalities and 4120 persons injured. The passengers killed numbered 117 and railway servants killed 479, while of the injured 1168 were passengers and 2711 servants. The suicides numbered 112, the total number of passenger journey, exclusive of journeys by season-ticket holders, was nine hundred and eleven millions, or upwards of thirty-eight millions more than in the previous year. The proportion of passengers killed or injured during 1894 from all causes were one in 7789854 killed, and one in 780319 injured.
