1910 September 16th     Salisbury – A Disastrous Experiment

A workman, named Tucker, of Alderbury, was admitted to the Salisbury Infirmary yesterday, suffering from nasty injuries to his face and hands caused by the explosion of an improvised cannon. He had been experimenting with a cannon made from a piece of piping which he had loaded with gunpowder. A red-hot poker applied to the touch-hole yielded unforeseen results, the man’s left hand being rather badly damaged, while a shower left ugly marks upon his face. He was detained at the Infirmary for treatment.
