The other inquest (see also Latham, Edgar) was held on Wednesday at the Military Hospital, Fargo, and concerned the death of Second-Lieutenant Henry Irvin Mahaffy, in the Royal Flying Corps, stationed at Lake Down. He was 22 years of age and came from Bangor, county of Down, Ireland.

Captain Fuller, of the Royal Flying Corps, said he saw the accident on Monday. The lieutenant was flying 60 or 70 feet up and finding he could not get over some trees which were in front of him tried to turn to the right, but as he had lost speed the machine nose dived. Witness went to the scene of the accident, which was actually on the aerodrome.

Second-Lieutenant Livens, of the Royal flying Corps, stationed at Lake Down, corroborated.

Captain Badger, RAMC, stated that death was due to fracture of the base of the skull.

The jury returned a verdict of accidental death.
