Hellier, Annie            1888 October 27th

On Friday afternoon the City Coroner (Mr G Smith) held an inquest at the Council Chamber, touching the death of Annie Hellier, the wife of George Hellier, of 17, Pennyfarthing Street, who died suddenly on the previous evening.

Deceased had been ailing for eight years, and on Thursday complained of a pain in her left side and kept to her bed. At about 7.45 her daughter Ellen went upstairs to inquire what she would have for supper and found her lying dead.

Dr Gordon was called in, and certified the cause of death ot be syncope. The jury returned a verdict accordingly.
