Elkins, Eli         1888 May 12th       Whiteparish

On Friday last a young man, Eli Elkins by name, was found dead in the Allotment Ground. On the day following an inquest was held by Mr R A Wilson when a verdict of “strangulation caused by falling on soft soil while in a fit” was brought in.

The unfortunate young fellow was a member of the Primitive Methodist denomination and the school children and friends paid a tribute of respect to his memory by following his remains to their last resting place on Monday.
