Biddescombe, Frank jnr     1888 June 18th         Redlynch

On Monday last an inquest was held by Mr R A Wilson at the residence of Mr Frank Biddescombe, Redlynch, touching the death of Frank Biddescombe, jun.

Frank Biddescombe said that the deceased was his son and would have been six years of age on Wednesday. On Sunday morning about ten o’clock he was called by his little boy. He went out and found his son lying inside a chicken feeder (in the garden) which had fallen on his neck and head. It was previously standing up against the wall. The child was quite dead.

George William Whiteley, medical practitioner, of Downton, said he was called on Sunday morning to the scene of the disaster and saw the body of the child about half past eleven. He examined it and found a bruise on the left side of the face near the temple. He was of opinion that death resulted from the injuries received and the shock.

A verdict of “Accidental Death” was returned.
