Mussell, Ezekial             1887 March 5th            Alderbury

On Friday afternoon an inquest was held touching the death of Ezekial Francis Mussell, aged 67 years, a labourer residing at West Grimstead, who was accidentally killed whilst at work in Ivy Church Copse in the parish of Alderbury.

Henry Tucker, of West Grimstead, said that at a little before eight o’clock, he was at work in Ivy Church Copse chopping off boughs from trees, and the deceased was with him. They were chopping a bough off an oak tree, and whilst the deceased was stepping on one side he stumbled, and the bough fell on him striking him on the back between the shoulders, and causing instant death. The deceased had been accustomed to work in woods.

A verdict of “Accidental death” was returned.
