On Tuesday an inquest was held at the New George Inn, Conigre, before the coroner, Mr F T Sylvester, on the body of Margaret Lily, infant daughter of Philip and Ellen Isley.

The child was seven months old, and from the evidence of Dr Taylor, died in a fit, induced by the extreme heat of the weather. It was first taken ill on Monday, about 9am, and alarming symptoms appearing, a neighbour, Mrs Eliza Usher, was called in, and then the doctor, but the child died soon after two o’clock.

A verdict in accordance with the medical testimony was returned.
