Hilton, Florence     1887 November 5th

An inquest was held yesterday (Thursday) at the Plume of Feathers touching the death of a child named Hilton, aged about a year and eight months, who died under very distressing circumstances.

The poor little thing was in a chair, pretending to make its dolly go to sleep, when it fell, and it nose struck a trivet on the grate. On the trivet was a teapot, which was upset, and the contents burnt the child’s arms and chest. It was attended to, but expired early yesterday morning. The accident happened on Tuesday. A verdict of “Accidental Death” was returned.
