Patient, Thomas 1886 December 18th
On Wednesday afternoon an inquest was held at the Council Chamber before Mr G Smith, touching the death of a labourer named Thomas Patient, of 5, Curtis’s-court, Endless-street. Mr A Fox was foreman of the jury.
Dr Gordon said that he was called in to see the deceased on Tuesday evening but found that he was dead. He attended him last May for some slight ailments, and about two years ago for heart disease. No doubt death was the result of heart disease.
Mrs Patient, widow of the deceased, said that the latter was about 50 years of age. He retired to the bedroom about half past nine on Tuesday night and staggered round the bedstead. She placed him on the bed and sent for Dr Gordon, but when the latter arrived life was extinct. Deceased had not been medically attended for some years.
A verdict in accordance with the medical evidence was returned.
