Lamport, Maud          1886 January 9th           Chippenham

An inquest was held at the “Three Crowns” Inn on Monday, by Mr Coroner Baker, on the body of a little girl, six years of age, named Maud Mary Lamport, who died on Wednesday night.

It appeared that early in the morning of Wednesday she upset a paraffin lamp and set herself on fire, receiving such injuries that she died. The mother of the child could not say whether she knocked the lamp over or it exploded.

Dr Garnham, who was called in, described the injuries and said that deceased from shock to the system.

The jury returned a verdict in accordance with the medical testimony.
