Gough, Emma

Gough, Emma         1886 January 23rd              Chippenham

An inquest was held on Wednesday by Mr Coroner Baker at the residence of Mr Gough, at Landsend, in this town, on the body of Emma Gough, aged 63, wife of James Gough, who died somewhat suddenly on Sunday morning last after a brief illness, and before she could be seen by a doctor.

It appeared that she stayed in bed on Friday, but on Saturday was better, and as late as half-past six on Sunday said she felt better, but at nine o’clock she did not seem so well, and they sent for Dr Garlick, of Sutton Benger, who, however, was unable to arrive at the house until between two and three, when the deceased had been dead about three hours.

Dr Garlick gave it as his opinion that the deceased died from bronchitis, accelerated by a weak heart, and the jury returned a verdict accordingly.
