Pretty, John 1885 October 24th Sherrington
Mr Coroner Sylvester held an inquest in this village on Friday on the body of John Pretty, aged 65, a labourer.
John Woods, of Codford St. Mary, deposed that the deceased called at his house at six o’clock am on the previous Thursday. They conversed together; in the course of the conversation the deceased said he was waiting to see Mr Bowden pass by, as he was going to kill some pigs for him. Whilst deceased was talking to him he suddenly fell back in a chair and expired almost immediately.
Dr Chadwick, of Codford St. Mary, said he had previously attended deceased, and he administered him some medicine on the previous Sunday. Deceased had been suffering from heart disease.
The jury returned a verdict in accordance with that testimony.
