King, Robert

King, Robert                1883 July 28th               East Knoyle

An inquest was held by Mr R A Wilson on Saturday last, at East Knoyle, on the body of Robert King, aged 67 years, a farm labourer in the employ of Mr J Corbin. From the evidence it appeared that on the previous Tuesday the deceased was sent with another man with a wagon and one horse to take some thatch to a hayrick. He got up into the wagon and laid down upon the thatch, and while on the way fell off and received injuries from which, after lingering until Friday 20th inst., he died. The man who accompanied the deceased was walking by the side of the horse, and could not tell how the accident happened; he said that the horse was walking and going quite steadily all the time.

The jury returned a verdict of “Accidental death.”
