Bannell, Jonah

Bannell, Jonah          1879 February 8th

An inquest was held at High-field, Devizes-road, on Monday, by Mr R M Wilson, on the body of Jonah Bannell, aged 33 years, a sergeant in the 69th regiment, who was home on sick-leave. It appeared from the evidence adduced that the deceased on Sunday walked from Stratford to High-field and took tea with a friend there. Immediately after tea he complained of being ill, and fainted away. He never rallied or spoke after, and only lived about 10 minutes. The medical evidence (Dr Gordon) was to the effect that death resulted from disease of the heart, and a verdict was returned in accordance with it.
