Barber, Daniel          1877 March 3rd         Whitchurch

On Thursday last an inquest was held at the Infirmary touching the death of Daniel Barber, aged 27, single, a breaksman in the employ of the London and South-Western Railway Company, who died on Wednesday morning in consequence of injuries received on the 16th February.

It appeared that on the day last mentioned the deceased was engaged in shunting trucks at Whitchurch Station, in Hampshire, his foot slipped, the trucks came back, knocked him down, and passed over both his legs, causing fractures of both below the knees, a fracture of one of the thighs, and also a lacerated wound. He was conveyed to the Salisbury Infirmary, and, as stated above, died on Wednesday morning. A verdict of “Accidental Death” was returned.
