Wilkins, William

Wilkins, William             1869 September 11th             Chute

On Saturday an inquest was held by Mr R M Wilson, on the body of an old man named William Wilkins, aged 72 years, who was found lying insensible, with his clothes on fire, in his cottage, on Thursday evening, about seven o’clock. It appeared from the evidence of his wife that he had had two fainting fits within the last six months, and that he was very feeble. There was nothing to show how the deceased’s clothes had caught fire, but the probability was that he had fallen on the fire in a fit. He was very severely burnt, and only survived the accident about an hour and a half.
