Sprignell, John            1869 June 5th          Whaddon

An inquest was held on the 25th of May, on the body of John Sprignell, age 30, who was carter to Mr Parsons, farmer, of that place, in whose employ he had been from boyhood. On the previous day, deceased was in charge of a waggon loaded with bark, and in coming down Whaddon Hill, the horses became restive and ran away, and deceased was knocked down, the wheels of the waggon passing over and killing him on the spot. Verdict –Accidental Death.
