Harwood, Thomas          1869 September 25th             West Dean

On Friday morning, Thomas Harwood, aged 55, a blacksmith, died suddenly on the road between Dean and Norman Court. Next day the inquest was held before Mr Wilson, and the son deposed that his father fell in the above place about quarter to six o’clock in the morning. He groaned twice but never spoke. Mr Nunn attributed death top the rupture of a large blood vessel, or aneaurism, near the heart. The verdict was “Died by the Visitation of God.”
