Ridout, Robert

Ridout, Robert            1868 August 15th         Coombe Bissett

An inquest was held on Thursday last, before R M Wilson, Esq., on the body of Robert Ridout, aged 79, for many years a carrier between Coombe and Salisbury. From the evidence of the widow of the deceased it appeared that he made a journey to Salisbury on the previous day, and after returning home went to bed about ten o’clock. About one, he complained of pain in his stomach and arms, and died shortly afterwards. He had complained before, and had been heard to say that, “he thought it would carry him off.” Mr Darke, surgeon, who examined the body, attributed death to disease of the heart, and a verdict was returned accordingly.
