Moore, Thomas        1868 October 17th      Wylye

An inquest was held here on Tuesday last by Mr Cardell (Deputy Coroner), on the body of Thomas Moore, aged 71 years, who was found dead in his bed on the previous evening. The deceased lived alone and was occasionally attended by a neighbour named Ann Smith, who stated that he was in his usual health on Monday and after having his supper went to bed about 8 o’clock, and she then locked the door and went into her own house, but a light being observed in the house about nine o’clock, she was induced to go and see if all was right and she then found the deceased in bed and quite dead. Mr Stratton, surgeon, of Steeple Langford, was at once sent for. He was of opinion that death resulted from disease of the heart. Verdict accordingly.
