Leach, Harriett 1868 May 16th
On Tuesday evening, an inquest was held by R M Wilson, Esq., on the body of a child named Harriett Martha Leach, 15 months old, whose parents live in New Street. The deceased was very fretful on Sunday, and about mid-day on Monday, it had convulsions and died.
Mr Winzar, who was afterwards called in, said he examined the child’s mouth, and had no doubt that death was to be attributed to convulsions caused by teething. If the gums had been lanced a few days before, the child’s life might have been spared. The jury returned a verdict in accordance with the medical testimony.
