Hull, Jabez

Hull, Jabez          1868 July 25th         West Knoyle

An inquest was held by Mr R M Wilson, at West Knoyle, on the 23rd inst., on the body of Jabez Hull, aged 34 years, a gamekeeper for Sir Henry Hoare. The deceased left his home the previous morning about ten minutes past seven. He then made no complaint of illness, but he had on previous occasions complained of shortness of breath after any exertion. He was afterwards seen in a coppice by an under-keeper whom he requested to make haste on to see what was the matter, a load of hurdles being upset in the road, the under-keeper went on as requested, but on looking back after going a short distance he saw deceased in a stooping position, and on going back a short time after he found him lying on the ground in an insensible state, and he died almost immediately. Mr Rumsey, surgeon, attributed his death to disease of the heart. Verdict accordingly.
