Gardener, William 1868 September 12th Bodenham
On Tuesday last, an inquest was held by R M Wilson, Esq., on the body of William Henry Gardener, about 51 years of age, who died suddenly on the previous day. Harriet Gardener, the widow of the deceased, stated that he was taken suddenly ill in the garden about seven weeks ago. He fell down without any previous warning, except that he complained of a pain in the chest two or three minutes before. He recovered and went into Salisbury to see Mr Darke. On Monday morning she found him lying dead just outside the back door. He was talking to his son when he fell and died almost without a struggle. Dr Darke attributed death to disease of the heart, and a verdict was returned accordingly.
