Bachelor, Thomas 1868 August 22nd Figheldean
An inquest was held by Mr R M Wilson, at Figheldean, on Wednesday last, on the body of Thomas Bachelor, a labourer, aged 59 years. The deceased went to his work the previous morning about half past six and he then seemed in his usual health, but about eight o’clock he returned home complaining of a violent pain in his chest and sickness, which continued till about twelve o’clock, when he fell off the chair on which he was sitting, and died almost immediately.
About a fortnight previously, he was obliged to leave his work on account of illness, but he then soon got better and was able to resume his work. Mr Yorath, surgeon, of Amesbury, was sent for, but did not see him till after death, but from the evidence that transpired he was of opinion that death resulted from disease of the heart. Verdict accordingly.
